RSHC at Еxercise in Azerbaijan
At the invitation of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and the International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG) and continuing practical cooperation with international specialized structures, the RSHC participated in the organization and conduction of the INSARAG Regional Earthquake Response Exercise on November 2 - 09, 2019.
The exercise was held at the Academy of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Baku. More than 200 persons, representatives of search and rescue teams and field hospitals from 30 countries and 10 international agencies and organizations were present.
The work on the preparation and conduction of the exercise lasted from April to September 2019, initially through teleconferences, preparing a scenario and then on the territory of the Academy of the Ministry of Emergencies of Azerbaijan, where the issues of material and technical support of the exercises were carried out.
The main goal of this large-scale training was to practise the coordination of the actions of the participants in the response to earthquakes - the On-Site Operations Coordination Center (OSOCC), the Reception and Departure Center (RDC), local government structures, search and rescue teams and field hospitals.
Upon the completion of the international exercise, the INSARAG Secretariat summed up and prepared recommendations for all participating parties.
The exercise was prepared and conducted at a high professional level, in ac-cordance with international standards.
