Training in water rescue in winter time

From 9 to 16 December, a group of specialists from the Sector of emergency situations of the Ministry of Interior of Serbia had an advanced training course at the St. Petersburg University of the State Fire Service of the EMERCOM of Russia. The topic of this course was “Rescue and work on the water in winter time and on ice”. The training sessions were held at the University and on the river Neva, where they had practical exercises with instructors from the search and rescue service of EMERCOM of Russia. Severe weather conditions at this time of the year in St. Petersburg were an additional challenge for the Balkan specialists, who brilliantly completed their tasks. This group consisted of professional firefighters and rescuers, who were also members of the specialized water rescue teams of the Sector of the emergency situations of the Serbian Ministry of Interior from various units throughout Serbia. The topic of rescue in winter conditions was not new for the representatives of the Sector, as in the previous years the Center had already had the opportunity to organize training on this topic.

In the frame of the course program the group visited the Specialized Unit of EMERCOM in St. Petersburg, which was one of the best in the entire Russian Federation.

Based on a voluntary questionary, it was clear that all the firefighters who participated in the training were satisfied, and for many the organization itself and the knowledge gained exceeded all the expectations. This proves that the Center, in collaboration with the University, once again successfully organized an advanced course in the outgoing 2018.

The organization and conducting of such courses is another contribution of the RSHC to upgrade the level of professional training of Serbian colleagues and, in general, the strengthening of friendship between our two nations.
