The 5th Anniversary of the Russian-Serbian Humanitarian Center
On April 26 in sunny Nis, RSHC team celebrated its fifth birthday! In honor of this jubilee, the International Forum “5 Years in the Balkans: Lessons and Conclusions” was held on the territory of the Center.
Within framework of Forum an informational film was demonstrated in which the RSHC history and development were reflected year after year, starting from April 2012. It was time when representatives of Russia and Serbia signed the Agreement about the establishment of the Russian-Serbian Center - unique structure designed for humanitarian activities – to help, save and cooperate in fight against challenges and threats.
Oleg Bazhenov, Deputy of Russian Emergency Minister, who came to Nis at the head of the Russian delegation, addressed the Forum and congratulated the Center on behalf of Minister Vladimir Puchkov. He thanked the staff of the Center and everyone who participated in its creation for the well-done work and wished new successes in further humanitarian activities.
He stressed that the Center is a symbol of Russian-Serbian friendship, whose activities demonstrate “... firm commitment to the course of cooperation and mutual assistance in the field of humanitarian emergency response, prevention of natural disasters and man-made accidents.”
Over the years, the Center became a multifunctional structure able to meet the challenges of providing humanitarian aid, disaster management, cleaning the Serbian lands from explosives and address many other humanitarian tasks in Serbia and the Balkans.
In response, RSHC director Bojan Glamoclija thanked Russian friends for the help and support of the Center and expressed confidence in the continuation of such successful Russian-Serbian cooperation.
Among the guests of the Forum were Serbian minister of labor Aleksandar Vulin, state secretary of Serbian Ministry of Interior Milosav Milickovic, the lead of Emergency Management Department Predrag Maric, ICDO General Secretary Vladimir Kuvshinov, who congratulated with the anniversary and confirmed that the RSHC is a sought-after structure for this region and wished the Center more activities in the future.
The Forum was attended by representatives of specialized structures of Serbia, Republic of Srpska BiH, Hungary, Greece, Macedonia, Russian Embassy in Serbia, international humanitarian organizations, volunteer and public institutions.
The event has been enriched by the demonstration training carried out by experts of the firefight unit of Nis, ambulance, Red Cross and Mountain Rescue Service of Serbia, who demonstrated their professional skills.
Performance of children's folklore ensemble from Nis gave an unforgettable Balkan flavor to the protocol event. All guests expressed their sincere gratitude to children and city authorities who helped to organize this small concert.
