At the begin of German invasion on Yugoslavia, in early morning on April 8th 74 years ago, German aviation bombed Nis. Like in Belgrade two days earlier, it was done in morning hours when people were going to work. Approximately 500 citizens lost their lives and many buildings were destroyed, but the total number of victims remains unknown. As a bombing aftermath, many people left the city and moved to nearby villages. It was the biggest bombing of Nis by German aviation during the WW2.
Locals keep memory of those sad days and victims of bombing. The city authorities invited the Center's staff to participate at the ceremony of laying flowers to the monument, dedicated to the Nazi bombing.
