Russian-Serbian Humanitarian Center

Nis University. January

On January 27th the Center representative Ivan Sulaev finished with the January course of lectures at Nis University at the Faculty of Occupational Safety.

The final lecture topic was the huge manmade catastrophe – the accident at the Sayano-Shushenskaya hydroelectric power plant in Khakassia (Russian Federation) in 2009. 78 employees died. The rescue operation was described. Focus was on the human factor, which led to this tragedy. The theme is highly relevant for Serbia, because it is mountain country with lots of hydraulic constructions.

"Such technogenic catastrophes at power stations take place - said Ivan - and their consequences are terrible for the environment and the surrounding populated areas. Unfortunately, there are always victims ..."

The Center staff pleases the attention to these lectures from the professors and students.
